| The Dwight Area Chamber of Commerce is located inside the historic Dwight Railroad Depot, one of only a few remaining operating railroad stations between Chicago and St. Louis featuring the architectural design of the 1890's. The Dwight Area Chamber of Commerce, a non-profit organization, was formed as an off-spring of the Dwight Community Development Council. The first meeting of the Dwight Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors was held at 7:30 PM, April 30, 1957 at Baker’s Furniture Store. At the end of the first year in existence, there were 143 members of 200 eligible businesses. The Chamber operates with a nine person board and a program administrator. The Chamber represents the businesses of the area and also accepts associate members. The Chamber, in cooperation with area businesses, the Village of Dwight, and the Main Street Program, sponsors community activities including the "Bidding for Excellence in Dwight" fund raiser Dinner/Auction in March, an Easter Event, The Pond Walk, The Fourth of July Celebration, The Christmas Parade, and Breakfast with Santa. The growth of our village can be seen in the constant building and business activities. Take the Amtrak train and get to know us. Southbound trains stop in Dwight at 10:49am, 6:39pm, and 8:24pm. Northbound trains stop in Dwight at 8:17am, 10:27am, 6:41pm and 8:52pm. Our downtown is active and nostalgic. Dwight Harvest Days in September are filled with festival activities, crafts, flea market and food venue capped off by a two hour parade of local talent and that now famous Basset Hound Waddle. Wind down in one of our eight parks and recreational areas. |
